Capped price???
Our online capped price for gas and electricity comes to an end on Sunday. Scottish Power have offered another year's price fix. Should we take this - what do you think energy prices might do in the next year?
It is hard to compare what they have offered but they have decreased the 'Daily Service Charge' and increased the units per kwh which obviously makes it much more expensive than last year.

I am in the same postion as you with my capped rate ending this month. I have looked around and i think that i am going to go for online energy 4 as i have not been hearing about any wholesale price increases.0

If anyone's crystal ball reveals the answer to that question, can they also find out who will win the 2:30 at Epsom.
I realise that no-one has a crystal ball but I haven't been keeping an eye on what is happening to gas and electricity prices as I have been on a fixed rate.
I know there are many knowledgeable people on this site who do take an interest in energy and who are aware of what is happening to prices. I hoped that someone could advise whether things have calmed down now so that there would no need to fix the price.
I am sure you thought you were being amusing; I was just asking for people's opinions.0 -
I was just asking for people's opinions.
Well if you want an opinion.
With oil reaching it's highest level ever on the world's market today, the demand from China and India increasing all the time, I would be extremely surprised if prices reduced.
How much margin the Utility companies have with their current prices to enable them to absorb increases in the short term is a matter for debate.
I jumped at the BG fixed to April 30 2010 tariff when it was offered and I believe I am on to a winner.
IMO energy prices will increase and increase in our lifetime(regardless if you are 9 years old or 90) and in the unlikely event of the cost of supplying energy falling the Government will hit us with 'Green' taxes.
But then I have never won on the 2:30 at Epsom.0
