Old Style daily thread. Sunday 2nd April 2017

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning all.

As expected yesterday nothing got done due to hubby playing with his new toy. Not expecting much to get done today either but he's promised me a trip to the tip is in order so I'm holding him to that if nothing else.

This afternoon I'll have to be a go between between Youngest and his Dad. Youngest needs a new car. He's got big ideas....hubbys ideas are extreme the other way. There's got to be some middle ground on this. Ultimately it's Youngest who will be paying but I won't have him being pushed into something he doesn't want and I think his expectations are a little high based on his earnings.

Slept well thankfully. My bladder and the bladders of my elderly hounds gave me time to recharge my batteries.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Morning everyone

Judi - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, blue sky and sunshine, temperature has dropped though.

DH and myself up enjoying first peaceful cuppas, boys still in their pits, will wake them in a bit.

Dinner last night was roast pork, chips, peas/veg and gravy - sounds a bit of a odd combo but was the menfolk's choice and as I'd put the meat in the oven to cook whilst we were out in the afternoon I needed something that wasn't going to take too long to cook whilst the meat rested - they all decided they didn't want full roast. Today food will be ribs in bbq sauce, chicken in a hoi sin sauce, HM egg and veg fried rice. We're going out to visit some of DH's family then call in on his grandfather on the way back, food will be for when we get back as we'll be out most of the day.

Work yesterday was steady but not as busy as it usually is on 1 April, but tomorrow will be, I'm sure. I was pleased it was only half a day as I was on my feet the whole time, tomorrow I will be at a desk, but up and down like a yo-yo.

    Keep safe and well x

    Good morning everyone

It's a beautiful morning here, the best of the next few days, so I'll be stripping the beds and get it all out on the line. Then I'll get myself out and about, I hope.

Before I go out I want to use the steam cleaner in the shower cabinet and wash the floor. All the stuff I hate doing!

It's the time of year I really enjoy, everything is coming back to life and places are opening up again.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

    Morning All

Lovely morning here, I've been awake since about 5.30, tried going back to bed but couldn't sleep. The ironing is done and the fire emptied. WM will go on once I've had a shower.

I have my Aunt coming today, staying until Wednesday. She's 80 and still very active. DD and BF are coming over for dinner later to say hello, she hasn't met the BF yet so I'm sure there will be lots of questions! She talks non-stop, my peace will be shattered!

Need to have a hoover round and get a few supplies in before I go and meet her in Glasgow.

I was wondering if the TAs are at their caravan?

Hope you all have a good Sunday. Take care. XX
  • Morning, (((((((((( hugs )))))))))) if you need one.

Lovely morning, but brrrr out just now. Will be turning the heating down whilst the sun is shining.

Hoping to do an hour in the garden this morning. At Aldi yesterday I bought a rhodedendren its white, quite big, so it is going in front of the wire fence between us and our neighbour. I want to make a wee corner there where we can sit, as it is now you can see straight in from our neighbours, now she has had the tree denuded of its branches.

I was surprised to see the crown imperial in bloom, it's early thanks to the mild winter. The plants are showing signs of growth, but so are the weeds.

Roast pork for supper, butternut squash was 49p at Aldi, so will roast some of that with the potato's.

Morning everyone, thank you for starting us off judi.

I've been up since 4, a run of bad nights usually means that I might get a better sleep tonight, at least that is my hope.

I have a lot of work to do today, two supervisees have emailed reports for reading and commenting. I know that one is going to need a lot of input.

I'm cooking roast pork tonight, must get the stuffing made. I'll do roasties, carrot and swede mash, kale and gravy. I don't like roast pork much but the chaps do and OH has reminded me that we ate my choice, chicken, for the last two Sunday dinners.

Washing machine just finishing but weather looks a bit uncertain and it us cold, I am warmly wrapped up but was shaking with cold so have put some heating on at a low level just for a while.

I thought Mr and Mrs TA were caravanning, hope that's the case.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Happy Birthday Butterfly Brain :bdaycake: Haven't seen you for a while but thought you might still be reading along :D

We were out walking and turned into an alley. A short one – I'm not chancing a walk down a long narrow enclosed path just yet, lol. When we were about a third of the way down a man walked into it, behind us. Scampi was on a longer lead, wandering about and sniffing away as we walked. I grabbed the ring in the middle of the lead so it was normal length and we kept going, as the man got closer my head was going 'oh !!!! oh !!!! oh !!!!' while my mouth was cheerily saying 'steady...good boy' etc. As the man passed about two feet away I was prepared for a huge tantrum but he glanced at me, then the man, then me and just carried on sniffing and walking. Cue over-the-top 'Ooooh good boy! Bonio for you when we get home' :D

So funny when men get together, they're all manly and jokey til the chat turns to chilli growing. Very serious conversations about phosphates, scoville units and the importance of bees and ladybirds. Then the beer is opened, drunk quickly then they head out the door to be all manly at the rugby :D I said to Scampi “Peace at last. Shall we go to our seats?” and he ran to the sofa, jumped up next to where I sit, waited for me to sit down then lay down next to me with his head on my leg :D

My arm is painful this morning. I propped myself up with lots of pillows but I kept waking up and finding myself lying almost flat. I got up for a couple of hours in the middle of the night and drank tea, went back to bed at 4am and watched rubbish telly, lol. Fell asleep at some point and woke up at 8am. Looking forward to my sofa tonight :D

I don't know what time my friends are leaving so I haven't planned anything for today, I'll just see how it goes.

    Morning all,

Beautiful bright day here with a good breeze, I have stripped the beds (not dd's as she is still in it) and have got them on a hot wash, will hang them out for a good blow, I will get dd to strip hers once she is up.

Girls night out was fab last night had a nice meal and a few drinks, but good job we don't do it very often as it cost such a lot of money  I don't understand how people do it every week.

We got all the rubbish cleared to the dump yesterday so the car port looks so much neater, I swept it out afterwards so its all clean and tidy, OH has cut half the logs, the others will need doing today, as Roger will be coming tomorrow to do the lawn, its desperate for a cut.

I might do chicken salad for dinner with some dauphinoise potatoes I have some cream to use up, or if there is not enough I will do some mash.

Need to have a good clean through and do an online shop, a film on the sofa will be this afternoons entertainment !

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all.
We are heading home this afternoon, hopefully the last time I'll have to do this drive.
We are topping up the water, emptying the pump out and filling up with diesel so we are all ready to move off next week as soon as we arrive.
    Have a great day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
