This is how I feel with blinking everything at the mo.
Just received a 'you are being sent to court re council tax, send £900 immeadiately to avoid'. I'm a month behind.
The tax credits twonks are saying they are taking me to court for £3,500 for overpayment, cept I do not claim or haven't received tax credits for over 4 years  .
I honestly feel that working full time is a nonsense because I pay for everything in full with no discounts anywhere.....what is the point. Can't afford a holiday, my children's clothes are always on sale or discounted, I buy food that is either reduced or from Lidl/Aldi, cheap places.
I havemade no significant headway re my debts, just really managing to keep my head above water, not anymore though.
The EA's who I have my house on the market (so I can sell to pay my debts) with have said that the market has been incredibly quiet, blame Northern Rock, thay said it's been the same with other EA's in the area.
It's pay day but I will already blow my budget by having to pay a chunk from council tax and the phone bill.
Christmas is looming and I feel completely overwhelmed by everything.

Aww hun, I really feel for you.
Can you not get hold of the council and say - you can have it back at x a week? As for tax credits, they tried the same trick with me - we over paid yuo £5k, we want it back. I asked them to explain in writing how they worked this out, as according to them I was highest bracket, but yet should apparently only have got £1k a year. Once I sent a few like that, I didn;t hear a dicky bird.
Keeping your head above water is better than slipping further into debt, and wait til your house sells - then you'll have a massive chunk of it all! Mine hasn't moved wither, stupid Moorcroft guy didn;t turn up last week, and I wanted to knock that tenner off my total! You're doing better than you think, think back to all the things you've achieved since you LBM. Bet it's more than you think.
You've done really well, and should be proud of yourself. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Triker, I feel for you. Oberon has a good idea. Can you send a polite-but-mouthy letter asking them for a detailed breakdown of how they reached their decision? And if you really want to make them focus, maybe send £5 on account, or whatever sum you could put by monthly?2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Ta for the support, I'm going to try and pay some council tax online and play dumb.
I've had a look at the taxcreditoverpayment site who do a pack and strategy in order to appeal, it's just I get sooo fed up just juggling it all constantly.
I've had to extend my overdraft, not very DFW is it.

I know, you just think you're getting on track and BANG! Some cosmic force tries to use you as a cash machine.
Write your letter to them - they have to reply and considering I saw a programme that had a load of math geeks from Oxford trying (and failing) to work out Tax Credits, I doubt some overworked underpaid employee of Gordon Browns will be able to manage it.
You're doing great love - what's happening on the house side? Anything you can do - private advert in the paper, pop an ad on Ebay? This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Understand how you feel triker. When I gave up work due to a combination of debt and kids being ill, I felt i had failed. with having to have time off when kids had a marathon tag month at being ill, I ended up so behind with rent and couldn't even afford to get back to work once they were all back at school, it was that bad, I didn't even have £4 to get the bus. My manager offered me a small loan, but i knew it would be months before I could pay her back, so I did the maths and decided till kids are older, I need a constant income wether kids are ill or not. It was the hardest decision I have made in a long time. If you can manage to get to work, go. Keep working, you will get past this tough bit. Depending on age of children, you dont need to spend a complete fortune on them for christmas. Mine have been told this year they are only having £50 each on them, its actually making them really think about what they actually want/need. (admittedly there is the extra's I bought in when i was working but they are only small gifts). You may not notice it, but you do feel a pride in yourself when working, believe me six months down line I hate the fact I dont work, but am trying ot combined the unemployment and debtfree timescales together.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0

Have you had a look at Quidco recently? There are quite a few no spends to get good cash back, Hilarys blind consulation gives 20 pounds, experian report is about 5, there are loads of free dvd subscription trials ranging from 5-15 pounds.
Just remember to cancel them!Debt Free - done
Mortgage Free - done

Yes, that moneys gone, but the bills are paid, and you're not slipping further behind.
Primark have some great winter coats in at the mo, I'm taking DD to get one tomorrow (£8 for a pink ski type thing). And if they're a bit bigger, if you have a somerfield near you this months mag has a 10% off voucher for Matalan if you spend £30. That might help.
BTW love the avatar - Labyrinth is one of my fave films! Baby Ash was very nearly Baby Jareth (but Mr Obi won't have it)This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!
