previously owned and now renting... status w.r.t. buying?

I previously owned a house (a joint owner). This was sold.

I'm renting for now, but looking to buy - this time just me.

Not sure if my status is first time buyer or not?

Depends on who you're asking. In terms of HTB ISA or LISA you can't be a FTB again whereas some lenders reinstate your house buying virginity after a certain number of years.

Not looking for any schemes or savings accounts.

Just looking to apply for a mortgage and making sure I get the correct status.

Most mortgage lenders will describe you as a FTB as you do not currently own a property.

But you'd need to ask to be sure.

some would even consider you a FTB if you owned a peroperty but did not have a mortgage.

Others would not consider you a FTB as you've previously owned.

there is no single definition and lenders have their own criteria.
