Not for the car enthusiast, but:
Skoda Rapid / Seat Toledo 1.2 TSi Cheapish s/h but resale values will always stay low (soon to be discontinued) - not a concern if you buy nearly new and keep; Didn't get a great reception but It was improved (particularly the ride) later in the production run.

Owners seem to like them. I would think this example would be ex-rental.
Or Fiat Tipo?

Lot of car for £11k. Well equipped. Likely to be ex Demo. I understand Fiats are better built now, but not up to Japanese standards.
???
An Astra would fit the bill nicely though.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.0 -

I bought an ex rental, it doesn't start with a D.0 -
A family member had an Almera, bought in 1997 and was replaced last year... only breakdown was clutch failure at 130k. It received regular oil and filter changes as well as pro-active maintenance.
The Almera was replaced by a Hyundai i30 which is performing well, apart from an intermittent sticky brake (caliper?) which is yet to be diagnosed by the dealership.AndyMc..... wrote: »I bought an ex rental, it doesn't start with a D.
I don't think anyone was suggesting it's a blanket policy, but it will simply allow a prospective buyer to ask the question if they prefer not to buy a vehicle owned by a hire firm.0 -
Your current car is worth virtually nothing. It may easily give another five years of trouble free, depreciation free motoring. What I would do is to research the market and have a shortlist of what I would buy next. If my car broke down and couldn't be fixed for a reasonable fee, then just buy a new one.0

I know exactly what you mean about the Almera. That was my Motability lease 12 years ago: a 1.8 Auto, and I would have had another if Nissan had not stopped making them. It was perfect for me at the time.
In your place I would go for a Skoda Fabia, Ford Fiesta or Honda Jazz. All have different profiles as a car. The Fabia is cheap to run, has a VW sourced engine. The Fiesta is a nice hatchback which is almost as big now as the original Focus. The Jazz is more high-seated.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

But that would apply to any registration.0 -
