Solicitor not accepting home insurance

Me again, still on home insurance.

So I bought a policy online today and sent the documents we received to our solictor. However they replied back that it was not sufficient as they needed a policy schedule. Now, I sent them the 2 docuemnts I received, which states that they form the policy schedule.

Now I don't know what to do. Our solictor emailed us with this before they closed so now can't be contacted until Monday and we are due to get the keys Wedneday. Anyone ever heard of a policy not being accepted by lenders/solicitors?

Company is Now4Cover

Thanks :(

  • EDIT: Help needed

So cancelled the above insurance and went with a more known brand, More Than. However now realised that we have to wait for policy documents to be sent out in post to the new address, and so we won't have them in time for Wednesday.
Logged in to More Than account but nothing is showing, says it could be up to 48hours and even then, don't know if the policy schedule will be available to view.
Does anyone know if MoreThan will email documents if asked? Or would they even fax/email documents to our solictor as timing is really tight??
We didn't get insurance before now as our solictor has been awful and they only confirmed our date of entry yesterday really.
Don't know what else to do other than trying to buy yet another policy that we can find who gives/emails schedules immediately?

    When did you exchange contracts?

We didn't, we're in Scotland, so we only need insurance from date of entry (i.e. completion)

Oh, I can answer this, having recently taken out a policy with morethan!

They post out their policy documents which take 10 days. However, if you ask them they will email you confirmation of your policy details for you to give to your solicitor. You might need to ring them, but it is pretty straightforward.

    * you needed insurance from Exchage of Contracts, not Completion

    * "our solictor has been awful" is no reason not to have insurance organised

    * the insurance must be acceptable to your mortgage lender (assuming you have one - if you don't, insurance is none of the solicitor's business)

    * Ring Morethan and ask them to email the schedule + policy document. Ask them to send them 1st class too. To your current address, not the new one. If necessary get them to courrier them over - you'll be charged, but so what?

    * if the solicitor does not get satisfactory insurance, he could refuse (on the lender's behalf) to Complete.

    * if you've Exchanged, and your solicitor refuses to Compete, you will be liable for a LOT of costs.

-We are in Scotland so exchange of contracts does not happen. Our solictor has confirmed that only on date of entry do we need insurance.

It would have been helpful if you'd just continued your previous thread about buildings insurance or at the very least mentioned in this OP that you are in Scotland since you know the house buying process differs to that in rUK.
