Santander PPI Refund

I'm a newbie to this site so forgive me in advance if I don't explain the situation properly.
In 2012 I complained to Santander about miss selling of PPI on my Debenhams card. stating I was told the PPI was compulsory and I had to have it to get the store card. Santander did not uphold this complaint and it was refused.
I was recently contacted by a company to act on my behalf to reclaim any miss sold PPI. I gave them the details of the Debenhams card and the original information I gave in 2012.
Santander have now reviewed my historic case and upheld it. Great!!!! but I had had to pay the PPI company £470. I don't have a problem with this as this is what I asked them to do. However, I do have a problem with Santander. They apparently reviewed their policies last year, so this is why my case was upheld. I feel Santander should compensate me for the fees I paid to the PPI company.
As when they changed their policies they should have automatically reviewed old cases which would of seen me receive 100% of my compensation.
I hope all this makes sense. Any guidance would be gratefully received. I have complained to Santander but they said they don't have a process in place to address this!

Santander will not pay your CMC fees, you should have sent it to the FOS at the time or asked them to review it after their policy change last year.

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

You were lucky they paid out, they don't have to because your store card was sold to you prior to regulation.
You got lucky.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

The banks have been instructed to go over some old complaints and review them again. This has been happening automatically but will take some time. When you raised the complaint again, Santander brought yours to the front of the queue.I feel Santander should compensate me for the fees I paid to the PPI company.
You were just a bit naive. CMCs know that the banks are going back on old complaints and are desperate to get involved again to get a cut. When in reality, had you done nothing, it would have turned up sooner or later.
Santander will not pay your CMC charge for something they do for free.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Thank you all for your replies.
I was not aware Santander had reviewed their policies as they had not made it public. I've other ppi claims with Barclays and they contacted me automatically when they reviewed theirs!!
So I would've of expected Santander to do they same if that were the case.
I've complained to Santander. Not holding my breath tho. Thanks again for your comments0 -

They don't make it public because they'd be swamped by people demanding their affairs be re-examined when the issue may have been very small - they may simply have been looking at the work of 1 person, 1 team or the whole department. They would have contacted you in your case.
Santander will not pay your CMC fees, if anything you should complain to the CMC that they didn't tell you that a review could have happened automatically and that they didn't need to complain to trigger thisSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
