I could have ordered the tablet from another store but a)I needed the tablet the next day as I was travelling and b)I needed the option of return without it being tied to Argos as it was a gift.

Also, I still think that as this was literally within a minute of the transaction something just didn't feel right. Even the store assistants were sympathetic and understood how it could seem unfair.

The problem you would have with point b is that you were never entitled to anything more than Argos vouchers if it was a change of mind return regardless of whether it was a gift or not. Them allowing change of mind returns goes above and beyond what consumer law allows so they can set limits on that.

I also guess that technically your return was a change of mind, they had the item in stock and working perfectly well as far as we all know, just because the box was a bit tatty doesn't mean there was any reason to not accept it other than you not wanting to (which I do understand I would be reluctant myself especially if it were a gift) so from their point in issuing the vouchers it may well have been seen as a change of mind return albeit in unusual circumstances.

I've always found Argos to be pretty good with allowing me to view an item (even when still packaged) before committing to buy so if you do buy anything in the future especially with any form of voucher it is always worth asking to see it first to check it over.
  • Hello All
I have been making regular payments from my salary to thevouchershop.co.uk which appears to be run by Sodexo Ltd. The idea is that you can exchange your savings for a multitude of high street shop vouchers at a slightly reduced cost. Recently i received an email from my employee that we will no longer be able to use this benefit and that any savings must be exchanged for vouchers by July 2019. However, I currently have over £1300 in savings but have no desire or requirement to spend this money before July. Sodexo are saying that I can not have the funds returned and can only exchange them for vouchers. How can this be the case when my savings are not yet in voucher form and what legal advice can i take to recover my savings.
    All assistance gratefully received.
    Many thanks,
    Lee.

What are in the t&c that you agreed? Did you benefit from lower tax / ni being deducted from your salary? What were your plans for the vouchers when you were ready to spend them?

If only you had read the last couple of posts and not ones from 2 years ago, you wouldn't look so silly.

To be fair, bumping an ancient thread is bound to cause confusion...
