Wiping lead is the term used by a plumber to make a joint between two pieces of lead/ copper in a soldered/capillary type joint
The only fool is those that do it!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Replacing the lead pipe need not be a massive job. I had mine done a couple of years ago. One hole was dug by the house (where the pipe entered the house) and other by the water meter. They used a mole (a machine not an actual animal!!!) to make a hole from one to the other (alongside the original pipe). They then fed poly pipe from one hole to the other and fed it into the house (after first cutting and removing the lead pipe). They connected this to a new stop valve inside (replacing the old stop tap) and filled in the holes.
