GEM Motoring Assist - my experience

Hi, Have been on GEM recovery reclaim policy for last four years. Never had to call them out till last week.

I have a 2001 Ford fiesta (1.25), done 62,000 miles. I bought it three years ago and have done nearly 20,000 miles in the three years.

Coming to the point. last saturday whilst driving on the motorway, a rattling sound appeared from the engine - all of a sudden, no warning light on the panel and no prior problems from the engine whatsoever.

Pulled the car and called the breakdown service. Reached in 45minutes, unable to fix the car on the motorway so towed it back to my place. The guy invoiced my for 127£ (96 miles towing). Paid by cerdit card over the phone. Recieved the reciept from the garage in two days.

posted claim form and reciept to GEM on tuesday and on thursday I had the cheque for the full amount in my hand. 3days door-to-door!

Was quite cynical about the recovery reclaim policies but had it for last four years only because it covered everything (except European cover) and cost only 46£! Must say it was'nt bad at all!
