How much info do you need to do your own PPI claim?

Hi,
I was looking to see recommendations for best PPI reclaim companies and the advice on here seems to be to do it yourself. I have had loads of different store cards and credit cards over the years and I do not have paperwork for most of them. To be honest, I probably couldn't even remember where I have had accounts
That's why I thought I would need a company to do my claim. However, I do have my Experian credit report which has some closed cards listed.
What info do you need to be able to do the claim yourself? Do you have to have all the details or just the company name?
Thanks in advance for any help

Correct. No point paying potential thousands for a CMC to put a stamp on an envelope.I have had loads of different store cards and credit cards over the years and I do not have paperwork for most of them. A CMC wouldn't know who you have had accounts with either. The best they can do is a credit check on you showing the last 6 years. What info do you need to be able to do the claim yourself? Do you have to have all the details or just the company name?
In most cases, the firm you complain to just needs your name and address (and past address if you have moved). Their websites will have the complaints address on it or the telephone number if you prefer to do it that way.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). @dunstonh Thank you so much, that answers my questions perfectly. Looks like I have a date with the computer this evening then!0

You can check the last 6 years for free using Noddle (make sure it's spelt that way, not Noodle
) and Clear Score - both will give you the last 6 years of your credit history for free, it should cover pretty much everything
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
