Missing Characters and Accents when Printing

When I print pages of French it looks fine on screen but prints with errors - letters with accents are sometimes OK but sometimes there is a space where the letter should be or an accent without its letter. This happens when printing from web sites and Open Office Writer documents. I am using Windows XP and a Kyocera FS-1750 printer. Any suggestions for curing this please?
