Barclaycard Card Protection Insurance

Options
Hi.... I have just been looking at my Barclaycard statement and noticed that I have paid for card protection, and it seems I'm still paying for it. Obviously I'm well aware of the PPI claims that have been happening over the last few years but I never took out actual "payment protection insurance" so didn't believe it applied to me. However, it seems from what I have read online that card protection insurance has been similarly mis-sold and many people have claimed their payments back plus interest.
Having only just noticed this on my statement because it only gets taken off once a year, so has previously slipped under my radar, does anyone know where I stand ?

It seems that the date for making a claim may have passed but I'm thinking firstly.....Should they still be taking the payment from me if it has been acknowledged as unnecessary (as it seems from various information online) ?
And secondly.... If they are still taking payment, am I still able to make a claim to get a refund ?

Thanks for any advice, I feel a bit stupid for not realising it was being taken once a year but with it not actually being called payment protection insurance, I just didn't make the connection.

Thanks

If its an annual payment then it sounds like you've been paying for an unecessary CPP or Sentinel card protection policy to cover you if the card was lost or stolen. Its too late to submit a complaint to CPP because their redress scheme closed about two years ago but you might be able to get a refund from Barclaycard.

You do not have PPI. That insurance is never paid annually and doesn't cover the loss or theft of credit cards.
You may wish to complain that this insurance was mis-sold to you, but first investigate exactly what it is...

If CPP, you are too late to complain post 2005 but your Bank may consider pre 2005 complaints.
