Car Insurance Doubling due to address change

I have recently moved house about a 5 minute drive from a nice area to less nice area and informed my car insurance company ingenie. They informed me they my policy would be cancelled in 7 days due to the underwriters not wanting to insure me at my new address. So i asked for a new quote and they quoted me £2300, my insurance is already £1200 and my car is only worth £500. I looked on a price comparison site and found insurance with Ingenie for £2100 for which i would have to pay a £470 deposit upfront. I havn't done anything yet because i am astonished at this situation and confused as to what i should do... any advice?

You can still cause tens of thousands of pounds of damage in a £500 car.

All you can do is shop around and see if you can get insurance that you can afford.

I found older cheap cars actually increase the premiums.

Over 10 years old and under £2000 seems to increase it. But that will vary between drivers/cars and postcodes. But one to check.
