Hi
A private car park recorded my number plate incorrectly by one letter on their automated system, did not correct it when I texted them back and then gave me a parking ticket.
When I complained to them I got the below response.
They are not denying they have taken payment for this parking session so surely they should not be issuing a ticket?
Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for contacting us.
Please see the below response in answer to your questions:
1. When making payment via our automated telephone service, we use a speech recognition software to record your vehicle information. Unfortunately there are many different variances that can affect the quality of the recording when using our speech recognition programme, i.e. background noise, wind interference, loss of mobile signal, similar sounding characteristics etc.
Upon the interpretation being read to you by RingGo, you are asked to speak 'Yes' or 'No' to confirm the vehicle registration offered. This places the onus on the motorist to ensure that they do not accept the vehicle offered should it not be 100% accurate. Failure to do so will mean that you are liable to receiving a parking fine; as was the case in this instance. Although we can fully appreciate that on occasion circumstances do mean mistakes happen, RingGo act merely as an automated payment service and we do not manage the car parks/parking areas in any way, inclusive of all enforcement matters
2. Unfortunately, upon checking our logs, we can confirm we haven't received any text messages. This could be down to sending this message in the incorrect format? Correct format can be found following the below link:
3. Although the SMS sent was in the incorrect format, where you had sent a message with the correct VRN, this would've been picked up and added to your account, but no changes would've been made.
4. If you have purchased a RingGo session for the wrong vehicle registration in error and realise within 15 minutes of the session being created, you can amend the active vehicle by the following methods:
- Online from the RingGo Help Centre by using the 'Change vehicle(s) on session / permit' Popular Question.
- By replying to any RingGo text message you have received or sending a new text to 81025 with the below syntax:
RingGo correct ABC123
(ABC123 is an example vehicle registration and wording will need to be replaced with the vehicle registration you wish to amend the active session to).
After the correct syntax has been received by RingGo within the allowed 15 minute window, we will amend your number plate for the current active session.
Should you not have made any necessary vehicle changes within the allowed 15 minute window, we would recommend paying again for the correct vehicle and seek a refund for the incorrect session with the parking operator direct.
We hope this information is of use.
Kind regards,

RingGo Cashless Payment Solutions operating the payment system for the new station car park at Leamington.
I would have thought that as I paid them my contract is with them?
I won't be paying and won't be parking there again.
I don't really want to appeal as I don't think I should have got a ticket in the first place.0 -

but you have appealed , if the company (still want to know who?) is a member of the BPA , did you recieve a POPLa code , NOTE as this was a railway scenario , good chance that ther land comes under railway bylaws and as such is not enforceable
1: who is the parking co involved?
2: who wrote that letter back to you and referred to a "fine"?Save a Rachael

Is it just Indigo or CP Plus or NCP? All appealable but you need to look at the PCN.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

RingGo sent that reply via their on-line customer enquiry form.
The ticket was issued by Met Parking Services Ltd. who presumably get the payment information from RingGo.
Met have a bad reputation at stations I think (Chiltern Railways).
I am supposed to appeal to Met but don't really want to dignify their procedures by attempting to follow them.
Also they seem to require you to appeal by post which is not helpful.
I have complained to RingGo as they are the source of the problem.0 -

Our template appeals see off these PCNs from firms like MET all the time; we certainly don't dignify them or give them any respect, don't worry! See the NEWBIES FAQS thread at the top of this forum.I am supposed to appeal to Met but don't really want to dignify their procedures by attempting to follow them
This is the same as all other byelaws/railway cases and will win at POPLA and be cancelled. That is the best revenge, waste their time and get it quashed. No giving away the driver.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It's almost certain your obligation in any t&c's is to pay to park, not to comply with the requirements of some dodgy voice recognition software. If you paid to park by card the parking Co should be able to trace the payment and parking co will struggle to enforce ticket.0

Thanks for your replies - I will appeal on the grounds that the session was paid for and their speech recognition system is prone to error.0
