Aqua Lisa Electric Shower

I'm looking for an electric shower, and Aqua Lisa seems to be a good brand.

The first fix electrics have not been done yet, so the electrician can fit whatever is required.

My question is, do I get 8.5kw, 9.5kw or 10.5kw?

Any views on whether I will notice a difference in use?

This is a hard water area if that makes any difference.

As you know the higher output models heat the water quicker and hence should offer a higher flow rate shower for the same temperature output.

I last bought an electric shower in 1986 and have had one off the hot water since then, so I can't recall how good or bad these are.

My main shower will be upstairs from the hot water tank.

I'm having a downstairs shower room and i want an electric shower in there in case the boiler is down.

The model comes in 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5 kw, so I thought I would go for the middle one.

Will I regret not going for the 10.5? There is a price difference.

Why not get a proper shower?

This is what I am hoping to do when we get our extension and downstairs shower. Seems sensible, no?

at only £30 more I would go 10.5kw £215 well spent if that is what you want.

Personally I'd go for the 10.5 kw. Especially if you're having suitable wiring installed anyway. If the wiring is suitable for 10.5, this gives you ( or a future occupant ) the option of fitting a smaller shower at a later date if you wish. But you can't really fit a bigger shower to wiring that's designed for a smaller one.

Also, the smaller shower will be fine in the summer, but in the winter, when the incoming water is that much colder, you'll regret not having the biggest one you can ( well, that's been my experience ).

You really can't beat a "proper" shower that runs off the hot water tank - having said that, an electric is a useful backup should the boiler ever have problems. Or if other members of the family have used up all the hot water and you can't be bothered to wait for the tank to heat up again ;)

Very sensible. One of each so you have a backup.

If you have a capable pressurised system, just get a mixer shower, the only thing that would ever "go down" is the boiler and your tank should have electric immersion as a back up - it's a much better shower!

Definately put the biggest cable possible in. I'd suggest 16mm.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

The biggest seems to be 10mm which I have found online, and also the electrician discussed this with me.

    Why would I want 16mm?
