Please help welsh water default

Options
I don't think I've ever been so stressed.

Last week credit file totally clear, this week gone from 998 to 499

Welsh water have placed an account on my file this week showing 6 late payments from September 2015 to March 2016.

I received my first bill in a new property on the 27th July.

my first payment was Sept 7th and I paid every month after that.

They are saying, when they billed me on 27th July that they bill in advance, and so every payment following has been registered as a late payment.

Now it was welsh water who gave me the dd amount as they just spread the amount owed over the remaining 7 months - no one mentioned I was in arrears?! No one chased the outstanding account.

I've paid each and every month by dd in my previous property so I assumed this would be no different.

They say they are investigating but my mortgage has just been declined because of this yesterday - so I'm in such a panic.

Does anyone have any advice? Can they do this?!

Can they just add an account to my file a year later?

Surely they should have set the payments up so there was no arrears?!
