Could anyone please advise me on this? If you know of a company/business that is employing staff and there is no National Insurance paid, the staff are paid in cash, never receiving a payslip (So I am thinking this could be some sort of Tax avoidance) The owner is running 3 businesses that I know of - maybe more and they are all run this way - Can I report this to anybody or is there any way I can look into this further? Please point me in the right direction, thank you.

The best advice would be to post your query in an appropriate forum like Employment and Jobseeking or the Tax Forum.

NI isnt always payable (only payable on earnings over £155 per week).

You're allowed to pay in cash.

Dont know the exact rules for payslips. Employees have a right to one, however, im not sure of any timescales etc or whether the employer can get away with waiting until requested.

Are the companies ltd? You can have a search through companies house at shortened accounts but it doesnt show tax liability i dont think.

If im honest id just let HMRC do their jobs, they know a lot more than you do and have considerably more resources at their disposal. Theres every chance youll end up costing a legit business thousands in investigation costs simply because youre unaware how they operate and have little knowledge of the legal responsibilities involved.
