Reclaim as an Executor ?

Options
Can anyone offer advice regarding reclaiming PPI/Account charges? My Mother passed away last year and left me as one of her two executors. She remarried years ago and her finances were a mess, her husband and step children have made things difficult and her home was 250 miles away so I have little paperwork. My questions are, can this still be claimed for the estate and are there any companies that are able to search for PPI accounts she had if I provide personal details ?

You can complain if you are the executer and have probate

You need to stick to factual reasons / suitability - you cannot use any complaint like she didn't want it or know about it as you weren't there for the sale (unless you were of course!)

There are no companies that do that. CMCs still require you to provide account details for them to raise a complaint

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

As above, but I doubt you'll be able to find anything about a deceased person's old accounts and you will only have a realistic chance of success if you have or find documentation from your mother's own archive.
Do remember that it is not somehow wrong simply to have PPI.

Many thanks for the advice, I know that there was PPI included and that my Mother and her husband fell on hard times but were told that they could not claim on the policy. They also incurred considerable bank charges/overdraft charges despite contacting the bank they escalated and in the end the bank changed into a loan. I do have the bank details so think I will contact them to see if it is possible to reclaim from just the account number and details I have. I want to clear the debts that were left after her death.

Just remember you are complaining it was miss-sold, not "claiming" it, so you need to explain why e.g. if the parents did indeed try and claim on the policy and were refused, that is a valid reason to complain as the policy was unsuitable (though you should try and establish the facts, it may be that their claim was not done in line with the terms of the policy such as a minimum period before a claim). The bank details should be enough to find the policy

Do note historic bank charges cannot be complained about
