Hi, Looking for advice regarding a suite I bought from Land of Leather, Newtownabbey on 30.10.03 using Open and Direct Finance. I know land of leather no longer exist. I heard that Open and Direct have now been taken over by Creations Finance however, when I rang the Belfast branch of Creations Finance this morning they said they never took over from Open and Direct Finance. Can you tell me where I go from here?
many thanks

Won't it be out of warranty by now?

    You complain to the seller

It's pre-regulation so that have no liability even if they still existed

At best you'd have to try the finance company and underwriter but they have no liability so don't hold your breath

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

No idea but that's irrelevant, unless you were sold the product by their agent they have no liability for the sale so chasing them about the sale of PPI won't get you anywhere

Sorry to be so stupid i do not understand when you say it is irrelevant, I just wanted advice on who took over from Direct Line. I have all my paperwork but you seem to think it is a waste of time, yet all I hear from Martin 'if you have paperwork go for it' . Obviously no more to be said on the matter :(

Ah no you're misunderstanding me here

There is no problem complaining, it's just you need to complain to the right people.

The issue is miss-sale - whoever sold you something did wrong. If you buy a sofa in Shop A from a salesman who works for Shop A, the fact Company B provided the finance is irrelevant as Company B did not sell you anything, so they are not liable for the miss-sale.

You complain to the person who sold you the product (that is, Shop A). The problem is that regulation of financial products sold by places like shops, car dealerships etc didn't start until 2005 so any sale before that is classed as pre-regulation so the company does not have to consider the case (that would be like you driving at 40mph in a 40 limit, then the council changed the limit to 30 and sent you a speeding ticket for doing 40)
