Freemans PPI rejected

Hi, just looking for some advice. I have received a letter from Freemans in which they have stated that i opened my account with them on 14th May 1998 and the sale of PPI took place on 1st June 1998. They then go on to say "given that i had ran my account for over 8 years prior to the sale of the policy, it is clear that the policy was optional" Clearly i had only been running my account for 18 days, not over 8 years!! How should i respond to this using the correct terminology? any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Whilst the timescale is completely wrong, it doesnt change the sentiment. It was bought after the purchase of the card. So, it was clear it was optional.
What were your complaint reasons? Do you have anything better than trying to hang everything on this?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi dunstonh, thank you for getting back to me.
I understand what your saying, however I'm pretty sure the 1st June could have been the date of my first order, or 1st statement and thats why it was a different date to the account opening.
I always remember Freemans being a difficult catalogue to get hold of and I'm sure i was led to believe that without taking out the ppi, i wouldn't have got the catalogue at all.
I"m not sure anyone has had any joy with Freemans so maybe i just let it go0 -

The problem with that argument is that you did not apply for PPI at the point of the card application. You agreed to it post sale. So, it weakens that particular complaint reason. Hence why I asked what other things you have given for complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Plus, they wouldn't have been regulated, then, although depending on who owns them now, they may take responsibility, but they don't have to.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
