tesco direct own brand iron

I have just bought a Tesco own brand steam generator iron. There is an anti scale filter supplied and to buy new filters it gives instructions in the user guide to contact Tesco's or go to there web site to order replacements.
I telephoned Tesco's to purchase some filters, only to be told they do not supply them ?????. I cannot believe a large supermarket chain could mislead there customers like this.
Would it be cheeky of me to ask them to replace my iron with another iron that I can purchase filters for, with no extra cost to myself.

Nothing to stop you asking, cheeky or not. On the flip side, they are not obliged to agree to it.

Did they not give you any idea where you could get them from?

"it gives instructions". What gives instructions?
  • Have you had a good look at both the iron itself and the packaging that it came in to see if there is a manufacturer or model number other than the one used by Tesco?

There is a very good chance that this appliance will be made by another company who supply them to various retailers with different badges on and if you can find other details, you may well also be able to find a supplier of the filters.

What is the model number of the iron?
