Are B&Q likely to be doing 15% off kitchens in October?

Options
We are planning a new kitchen and actually have all the doors we need.

We just need the units to put them on, and the worksurfaces etc.

We have been offered 10% via the Trade department plus we get a £100 voucher if we spend over £1k (increments of £100 spend gets a book stamped and 10 stamps gets us the voucher).

I'm hoping that we can get a bit more off if there's a genuine sale on.

Don't know about the B&Q thing but have you looked at howdens.

We found them through a local chippy. We got a quote and design from MFI for £3750 including 50% discount. We then went to howdens who have the same range just with different names and best of all they come already built. You just have to put doors etc on. so no great british flat packs.

Price paid £1600 including an extra extractor fan.

    Hope this helps

How did you get an offer via the trade dept? How do I go about doing that too? Thanks

I just went in asked / found a catalogue and then bought. Lets face it who really only sells to trade these days?

Our local howdens (gloucester) seemed to have many general public in there.

Do you mind if I ask how many cabinets roughly you bought for £1600, we are in the process of buying a kitchen, and was going to go through B&Q, but we got a local chippy to quote us on fitting the worktops and he has a cash account at Howdens, so we might price up their kitchens too, to see if we could afford one of theirs instead.
    Thanks

we had ( as far as i can remember as this was our old house)

    Floor:-

    2 corner units (1000mm)
    2 Single cupboards (400mm)
Single wine rack (expensive though it was £80 compared to £25 for a cupboard)
    Slimline dishwasher (paid £350)

    Wall:-

    1 double
    1 corner unit
    2 single units
    Extractor Fan

    Plus 7m of worktop.

We also fitted ourselves which wasn't too hard but did take a whole week.

Biggest saving is on the taps, the rrp on urs were £350 we paid aprox £40.

It was so good we went back a week later for a bathroom for £200 all in.

Hope this helps and you can push for more discount. We started off with roughly 65% discount on most items and hot that to 80%. There discounts are based on MFI full RRP's.

    Best of luck!

Basically I went and asked their trade manager.

Sometimes it helps if you speak to them in person, rather than over the phone. Also, find a time when it's not busy and perhaps towards the end of the month, when they may be thinking about sales targets etc.

The way it works in B&Q is that the depts tend to compete for sales, so their kitchen dept may be in competition with their trade dept. You still buy kitchens but it may not be the kitchen team that is credited wit the sale.

  • take a look at alaris avenue (google it)
they supply mereway(/wentworth) kitchens which are much better quality than howdens and in our case cheaper as well.
these are the same units that john lewis use for their kitchens
