Calculating redundancy

I have had a chat today with my boss who told me my job is no longer needed. The alternative he offered me wasn't suitable so I turned it down.
I have been with the firm 23 years at the beginning of May. They have to pay me 3 months notice. Am I right in assuming my redundancy includes the notice period as well which will take me into the 23rd year of complete service?
I've had nothing in writing yet and another meeting is scheduled for next week when my redundancy will be made formal.
Thanks

NO.
The calculation is based on statutory notice which will be 12 weeks.
once you have been given notice he date used for service will depend on the termination date or date of notice +12 weeks whichever is the later.
if they gave notice today and terminated immediately the date would be 21st June.
which gets you past the 23y date.
However statutory redundancy is capped at 20 weeks but the date is important as you count back for years that qualify(over 42*) for the 1.5 weeks rate.

In my recent experience, when you are terminated your service ends.
You will be paid for the 12 weeks notice (PILON), but it does not count towards your continuous service.0 -

That's not the law so go back and get it fixed if it would have given you another year.
(assuming that 12 weeks was statutory notice not contractual)0
