Eon Smart Meter

This is probably a simple question to answer, especially if there are any Eon reps here.
I recently got smart meter fitted and works fine. My question is: at the change over time, from one day to the next, why does the meter reading figure not stop at zero?
I looked last night and around 1.15am, the meter switched to the next day, the meter then read 35 pence?
Is that a standing charge or something?
