    And if you haven't signed up yet you can change your offer (but the vendor might not accept your new offer).
    Personally, I don't like leasehold or shared anything. There are unknowns in terms of neighbours and future costs.

    I dug out an old email from when we discovered the two garages were leasehold (also had a flat above). To give you an idea on costs, and to get your solicitor to check the deeds (the people we bought off bought it new and their solicitors had missed it).


    The EA said:


    "We also discussed the garages. They pay approx £80-90 per half year service charge which includes maintenance of the driveway, garage doors (they got repainted recently) and insurance incase the flat above the garages has a leak. For some reason the garages aren't on the deeds for the house but she has correspondence confirming that they belong to the house, which will be sent to your solicitors."

    the freeholder can sell the freehold title, but the lease to the garage remains with the OP. Increased charges can be appeals, but generally charges SHOULD increase, as the costs of maintenance increase.
