If you complained in 2011 (regardless of direct or via CMC) and it was rejected it should have gone to the FOS after 6 months (I'd be surprised if the CMC didn't do this) - if not it is time barred.

The Halifax may have agreed to re-look at the case but there is no guarantee they will change their minds. Did they mention Plevin at all? There is no guarantee also they won't tell the CMC who would come after any refund you do get

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • To be fair I didn't realise I'd tried to claim in 2011 it was Halfax who told me. I suffer mental health issues an if unwell do things Swype of the moment I claimed this time for pre exist in medical condition bi-polar and 6 mth full 6 mth half pay plus exit package if employment ceased for sickness.
  • Update I've phone the Halifax and they have said they will only be dealing with me.

That is fairly normal as banks don't like CMCs as their staff are just using second or third hand data and speaking to you is better. It doesn't break a contract with the CMC however - if their contract says they are entitled to a cut of any payout even if it comes after a review, they may still chase you. If you do get a payout, don't spend it all just in case

  • I don't know what's going on with it to be fair the Halifax initially said it was rejected but they had reopened it. I called the third party and the said I had a payout refunding ppi in 2011. Spoke again to Halifax and they then confirmed that but have reopened it as I could be due more. My head is battered by it lol

I believe from a recent ruling that PPI companies are not entitled to a payout if the bank reviews and offers a further payout but you'll have to check that
