On BBC Breakfast this morning it was said that councils need
£12 billion to fix pot holes.

People in this country are faced with a council tax increase to cover Adult social care which we all agree with

Why not increase the amount a PPC pays the DVLA to a min of £10
per application

The PPC scammers can easily afford this and for once give something back to society instead of just scamming

It seems that road tax will not fix pot holes ????

Road tax hasn't existed since 1936, when they stopped ringfencing the revenue to pay for the upkeep of the roads.

Vehicle Excise Duty, as it's now called, is just another tax which goes into the central treasury pot, along with the tax on beer and fags. Central Government doles out money from there to Local Authorities, who then make their own decisions on how much (or little) to spend on road maintenance.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

Whatever the name tag, all motorists pay (or should do)

However, the way the government acts does relate back to 1936

But it is coming back in England at least by 2020.
