To be fair who would like a stranger in their back garden without notice, for all you know they could be looking for ways to break in.

My Brother's house was broken into during the day, from the back garden.

Your post makes absolutely no sense in reply to this thread. The Landlord's dad maybe a stranger to the OP but it's pretty obvious he wasn't there to look for ways to break in so what's your post got to do with anything?

    I have 2 questions:

1: do you deal with many leases?

2: how many injunctions have you been granted to force the tenant to change the locks back?

My experience with leases is through work and my personal circumstances. I work for an organisation that usually has several ex-pats based in the UK. I deal with the leases on their homes. I also stand on the other side of the fence as I have a property that I rent out. On average I deal with maybe half a dozen leases a year.

To answer your second question - none. It's never been an issue, either acting as a tenant or landlord.

I'd be interested to know how you feel changing the locks can enhance a tennant's relationship with their landlord - please elaborate....

Your attempt to discredit the previous poster with a lease-related p!ssing competition doesn't really invalidate the rest of their advice. Sorry.

So one a month, it's not a comprehensive view of leases in general. Many tenancy agreements don't have such a clause, in in any case, there could be very good reasons to change the locks.

I think that its important therefore to understand how difficult getting such an injunction would be. Stopping someone from running their home as they wish is unlikely to build a positive relationship

    How would it affect it?

The landlord wouldn't know unless he tried to get in when he hadn't been permitted?

I think people who are contemplating changing the locks aren't looking to enhance their relationship with the landlord... Often they're stopping the LL harassing them.

I wasn't trying to discredit anyone, simply clarifying whether it was an opinion or a common professional experience.
