    what speed did they say you would get

    i am on superfast virgin cable broadband and my smart TV still buffers and BBC i player is almost unwatchable at peak times, so maybe you are expecting to much

    Id just like to be able to watch a film or tv show with out buffering ideally or maybe even a bit of buffering every now and then - no idea what speed that would be.

    I know a few years ago BT told me I would need a minimum of 2mb.

    You've already been told that you can test your line speed - speedtest.net. You can check on a PC/laptop or a mobile phone. Check both wireless and wired connections. Have you got microfilters installed? Have you got a burglar alarm connected to your phone line as this will need a filter too. Is the router connected to the master socket or another phone line?

    Try posting on the tech board to make sure you've set everything up correctly as it doesn't sound like you've done this before.
