Corsa D Misfire and Idling Issue

Hey guys, looking for a bit of advice on what come be wrong with my car:

Bought a 61 plate 1.2 Corsa D Petrol with 9k miles on the clock end of June last year. All has been fine up to last month and now has 18k on the clock, since end of last month I've had a few issues.

Last month, was driving home and lost power when shifting gear or accelerating and EML came on.
Called warranty company, took it into Halfords per their request and got them to take a look.
At first they couldn't find any error codes stored, and when issue re-occurred I plugged it into a friends code reader and it showed a misfire on cylinder 4. Took it back, they replaced the coil pack and spark plugs and all was well up to this morning.

This morning, drove a few miles, pulled up at the lights and noticed engine was vibrating quite a bit. Around 30s later, engine starts revving on it's own upto around 1-1.5k revs and dash lights dip slightly when revving. To be on the safe side, called out recovery who plugged it in and no code or lights but recovery guy noted that fan in engine bay was running constant and thinks it may be some sort of ECU fault or possible that Halfords didn't gap spark plugs properly?! I've took it back into Halfords again at warranty company's request, but not sure if they'll be able to diagnose it without any codes.

No idea if the two issues I've had are related or if its a new issue - A bit of googling shows a number of possible faults such as EGR valve or coolant sensor or MAF.

Sorry if any of this is unclear, I'm not much of a petrol head, just wondered if anyone had any similar experiences or advice.

Thanks in advance

Don't know about the problem you're experiencing but I wouldn't be buying a five year old diesel with less than ten thousand miles on the clock.

  • I wouldn't be buying a five year old anything with 10K on the clock, myself.

It's a recipe for skipped servicing and harsh usage consequences.
  • Officially if Vauxhall can't find a fault there is nothing wrong with it. I have a 62 plate corsa with 16k on it from new, serviced every year by Vauxhall and all MOT and repairs done at their garage as well.

Mine has been in four times since January with exactly the same problem as you and they have had it for a few days and can't fault it yet when I pick it up it does the same thing that night, checked everything they can think of, a complaint direct to Vauxhall who responded to say as the dealer says nothing is wrong then you are clearly incorrect. I wouldn't mind but they were expecting payment to check my vehicle each time...

As you have googled it, this is a very common problem with Vauxhall's and I personally believe they know what is wrong but it's an expensive fix to them so won't do it. Anyway long story short, I can't trust my car or Vauxhall so I'm selling it and getting anything but a Vauxhall.
