Most GP surgeries ask carers to register so they can support them.. and can direct you to your local carers charity. So perhaps give them a ring.

The 'proof' you need does vary..
my husband has a carers card from the doctors with a code number on it and phone number. The code carries info about him and also my needs.
Some places want to see DLA/PIP letter for person being cared for. I have been asked once or twice even when in a wheelchair that is being pushed.
Some places ask for a blue badge.. i've never worked out how I can show this and have it in a car at same time as they wont accept copies?
If you look for our counties carers charity they will be able to provide you with a card and often a list of local discounts..

We mostly get carers discounts by using a photo copy of my PIP award. Although some places don't require proof.
I always ask when buying tickets for '1 disabled, 1 carer and however many adults etc) as often the discounts aren't advertised.

As above his disabiliy is having no sight in one eye and no peripheral vision in tne other. So not immediately obvious but more so if he takes his dark glasses off . 13 eye operations have left their mark .
We dont claim attendance or carers allowance. We are hesitant because we really dont need more cash and also they might just take back the dla away

it tends to beg the DLA award that allows the carers entry.

i go to alton towers every year with my daughter and her family.
we get a free carers ticket when i show my DLA award.
she doesn't claim carers so its definitely the DLA award that creates the 'magic' ;)
