Halifax Mortgage Process 2017

Hi

I have read a few older threads on Halifax's mortgage process.

Just wondering really how long it takes, I have a financial advisor who is dealing with the application for me and my husband? He has said that it has been accepted at DIP stage and has asked for documentation. We are providing the documentation quite a bit payslips, proof address, proof of deposit, and also our card details to pay for the valuation.

I have read on a few older threads that Halifax have different processing categories. Is this still the case?

Completely paranoid here, found a the lovely house and don't want to get emotionally attached.
Feel like I'm going to get the rug pulled out from under me any minute now ... so so stressful.

Any information gratefully received.

Ours didn't take long - we had an agreement in principal and then reserved the house (new build) on the 11th Feb,. Mortgage Offer went in on the 28th Feb and we found out on the 6th March

Are using a broker...does anyone know when we hear about our vaulation date ? Weve paid the fee...
  • Had a call from the estate agent today, they said the valuation is booked for Monday.

Does this mean I'll receive an offer subject to valuation? Have we passed the credit check?
Our first application through santander was declined.
  • Our application went in Thursday pm, survey was done today and just had confirmation our application has been successful. My understanding is the survey doesn't go ahead unless they're happy with everything else on your application. Good luck!

No. You won't be made an offer until all i's are dotted and t's crossed. There's nothing in between.
  • Just an update on mine , its with the underwriters but my mortgage advisor said thats normal the vaulation should be booked in in the next few days he said , said they might ask me about my defaults but usuallly they just ask for a letter why it happend .....is this normal ? Have no idea
  • Update from my Mortgage Adviser

Everything is with the lender, and we are "waiting for feedback". Finger crossed.
He said they may ask for additional info, they may not. He said to wait and see. I noticed on my credit file there was an identity check and mortgage quotation run by Halifax on 22 March.

So stressful. Really want the house.

Thanks for all the feedback so far.

Beyond doubt one of the most stessful things iv everdone , i was just saying to my partner id choose going through labour again over this ! 5 times over and thats saying something 😭😭
  • Halifax Declined

Said that something came up at another address. I have a couple of credit cards at my mothers' address, all paid and up to date but I didnt mention these. I am not on the voters roll there and not connected to the address through my credit file.

My own fault. Should have mentioned it. Thought I didnt need to as its not connected to my credit reference report.

So - I guess thats it for me now, a lifetime of renting and paying someone elses mortgage.

    Thanks for all your help!

I suspect the valuation will be cancelled and my vendor will get twitchy and put the house back on the market.
