suncream recommendations?

Options
Can anyone recommend me a good quality sunscreen?

I used to use a good one from the U.S.

..but it's no longer available in SPF30, only in SPF45, 55, 70 and 100, which seems a bit overkill for the sun here in Britain!

Ideally I'd like one that's not too chalky or greasy and has good UVA protection.

There is legally no such thing as SPF 55,70 or 100 in the UK, the highest you can buy is SPF50+, it may seem like overkill to you but everyone reacts to the sun differently. I would recommend Ultrasun everytime without fail.

I use this one because its a lotion rather than a cream so it rubs in really well and a little goes a long way!
    It's really reasonably priced too!

I know you think that SPF 50 is overkill but I have viitiligo and this lotion stops my white bits with no pigment from burning but my 'normal skin still tans nicely!
  • bioderma is worth considering!

Boots Soltan has 5 *UVA protection, higher than some other more expensive suncream.

They do a whole range of different types - some with insect repellent, lotions, sprays, sensitive etc.

I've used their F50 anti-aging face suncream for years.
  • Eating plenty of foods rich in vitamin C and the B vits goes a long way to protect skin from the sun.
Plus, getting the right amount of Vitamin D also helps....and you need the sun to give enough Vitamin D as supplements are not effective enough.

It is now understood that using sun screens has actually increased the likelihood of burning, causes vitamin D deficiency and is detrimental to developing health of children.

If going abroad, the better option of sun protection is give yourself 10 minutes of sun every day then use an organic, naturally sun protector. Chemicals in 'normal' suncreams are not something you want to rub into your skin.

Seconding this recommendation. I've used Soltan 50+ for years and recently started using the 'Once' version, which lasts all day.

La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Ultra Light Fluid SPF50 is amazing, it's not chalky or greasy and it's easy to reapply as well.

I've been buying that exact same sunscreen for a few years now, it's good stuff isn't it? It's the only brand I've found that doesn't make me horribly greasy and spotty.
The face version is still available in factor 30 on Amazon
