Thank you everyone, I am really pleased. I've been thinking about it and will probably use it towards a few things we could do with:

I need a new bookcase as mine are collapsing. I've got my eye on a bigger one which will condense at least 2 into one, so I'm getting that.

The space created by getting rid of a bookcase can be used for toy storage, so will get that.

We've been planning on getting a tumble trier so will get that.

I owe DH about £50 on his credit card so will pay that.

Whatever is left will go towards the F&F if it's accepted, or the debt fund if it's not. I think that's a pretty good balance between improving our life at the moment, and paying down the debt.

I offered a 33% F&F countering their 55%. Hoping they will accept that as it's unenforceable.

Well maybe I should invest in a hearing test :rotfl: I've had my letter today and it turns out the amount is just shy of £1500 :T :T :T :T

It says the cheque should arrive in 2 weeks, so I'd better allow a month considering their inaccurate timescales for the letter! I'm gobsmacked, I can't believe I paid that much in just 2 years of having a policy (although a good proportion is interest etc)

Wow that's amazing jwil, great news :T.
Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
    Debt in July 2017 = £58,766 😱 DEBT FREE 31 OCTOBER 2017 :T 🎉
    EMERGENCY FUND 1 = £50/£5,000. EMERGENCY FUND 2 = £10/£5,000.
    CHRISTMAS SAVINGS = £0/£500. SEF = £1,400/£12,000 PREMIUM BONDS ME = £350. PREMIUM BONDS DH = £300.
