PolicyExpert.co.uk Home Emergency cover

Hi all,

I have a question to all.

I bought extra option with my home policy after reading about it at
1) https://www.policyexpert.co.uk/insurance-blog/ensuring-cover/exclusions-to-watch-out-for-with-home-emergency-cover/ where one can see a plumber dealing with sink.
2) Then at https://www.policyexpert.co.uk/wp-content/public/downloads/optional-extras/home-emergency/HomeEmergency_Wording_PEHEP1012.pdf again a picture of another plumber dealing with sink.
3) Then at https://www.policyexpert.co.uk/home-insurance-guides/understanding-your-policy/home-emergency-cover/ What does Home Emergency insurance cover you for? it lists drainage problems.

When I called to for and spoke to the claimline he refrained to help referring the internal blockage is not covered only external is covered by policy. I checked the wording and it not clear if the internal or external blockage will be covered.

Am I the only one thinking it is not clear from the below wording below

that internal blockage will not be covered?

Regards, Ilkin

  • It's not an "all risks" policy, it lists the perils covered under "what is covered".

It doesn't say there that internal blockage is covered...

It doesn't say that external blockage covered as well, does it? If we caompare it to Aviva's wording then it says

That is my point - an ambiguity in the wording.

I read it that you are covered for failure of your drainage system where damage to the property is a likely consequence.

What is the emergency you have?

I think the internal/external debate is a red herring. I just don't think you had an emergency.

What is the emergency then? Is it when you desperately want to use your toilet and it is blocked?
