Car insurance payment

I have got a quote for car insurance but it is to start on the 17/04.
I am going to be paying yearly, but if I take the policy out tonight will it take the money out tonight or when the policy starts?

    I renewed a policy for 14 April, by phone, and they said they will take the money (annual, one lump sum) from my credit card around the 13th of April. Directline car policy.

    If you don't want them to take the money, you can get a quote, and pay before the quote expires. Make sure the existing policy does not AUTO-renew.

    I have got the confirmation that the other policy is cancelled as of 17th of April :)

    I have sent the new insurer an email but also saved the quote :) Thanks!
