Scottish power default

Hi,
I'm after some help on whether or not I can get a default removed off my file. It is for £82 owed to Scottish power for an electric bill which I didn't even know was in my name. A previous landlord/friend had let me rent his apartment with all bills included. We had a bit of a falling out as I wanted to move out and then he must have registered the bills into my name. The name on the account is spelt Shaun whereas my name is Sean, could this have any baring in whether I could ask for it to be removed even though it was unfairly added onto my file in the first place. Im not sure whether or not it's gone to a creditor as it just says Scottish power on my file.
Thanks in advance
