Cost of Will that mitigates IHT liability?

This is a 'how long is a piece of string?' question:

What would be the typical cost of getting a solicitor to draw up mirror Wills for a couple that included advice as to how to minimise an IHT liability? Estate value would be above the £350k x 2 but below £1m. I know the rules are changing, but just wondered about the cost under the current rules.

£300 to £400. It is the cost of probate that is going up. You should d o powers of attorney as well but you can do that online as a solicitor will charge lots more for. Choose a STEP memebr solicitor who will be able to advise on IHT planning.
