I want to know how much SKy+ is? I've looked on the web-site and it doesn't seem to mention the cost. I don't want to ring them, as I know I'll get the hard sell. Also, has anyone actually got Sky+ and what's it like? I've been thinking about it for a while now, but now winter is just around the corner, Sky+ seems like a good idea.

Are you a sky customer already??
If so, I believe it is £199 for the new box.
New customers get it for £99 installed.
The monthly subscription is £10 unless you take 2 premium channels (Movies/Sport) then the fee is waived.
The box has a 40 Gb harddisk that stores upto 20 hours of proramming.
This month there is also Sky+ 160 due which will be £400 for a larger hard disk, upto 80 hours storage.

Yes, I am already a Sky customer. So it would be cheaper if I wasn't? - typical!Me transmitte sursum, caledoni0

Oh yes, unless you are moving soon.
Then you take your old box with you and start as a brand new customer as well with a nice new box & a second digibox for your bedroom.
You wouldn't need a VCR though again unless you have a lot of tapes you would like to continue using so £200 can be equated to a top of the range VCR.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep

but PLEASE remember,, they get u to rely on it and bin your VCR "BUT" it will only work as long as your are subscribed to Sky....so they have got you!
If you're happy with this - fine OR you could get a hard drive DVD recorder.
DONT FORGET...you can try Sky+ for a month, get the wiring done (and Quad LNB!) free then cancel!0 -
ok - well I am quite interested, as it sounds like my kind of thing. Can you pay monthly, or is it a one-off payment?Me transmitte sursum, caledoni0

We love Sky+ - my husband is delighted that I no longer clutter the living room with tapes of stuff I have yet to watch but have got confused which was which...lol.
The series link is a fabulous feature - I just click on it and never worry about missing a favourite program. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -

a bargain is only a bargain if you really need it!0 -
I agree with all the above regarding how good sky+ is, I too was pondering for a long time about getting it as you have to commit to another 12months.
I got a refurb box for £99, which turned out to be brand new, as long as you relocate the old box and pay an extra £10 per month thus enabling you to watch sky independently on the second box. The installation was free.
I believe Sky will still offer this deal and there are threads about this, use the tactic of ringing them and tell them you may want to cancel unless you get a good deal, sometimes they will automatically offer the above deal, otherwise you should mention it.
Maybe waiting a month or 2, may help as I am sure they will have a christmas promotion push. Just dont pay the £199 though.
