Printer warns of "counterfeit carrtidge"

Hi everyone. Not on here often but don't know where else to ask this.

My HP printer cartridge (yes, I do know how to spell it!), having happily produced stuff for me over the last two years, appears now to be bringing up an HP on-screen warning as it nears exhaustion. Something about it being counterfeit and did I buy it as genuine.

Should I be concerned about this? It's my first printer and am not up on such things. I'm worried the printer will start being unco-operative!
