Survey Advice Please

Hi, Me and my OH are first time buyers. We have had an offer accepted on a house, solicitors instructed mortgage app in and valuation booked for 10 days time. We have naively just realised that we need to arrange the survey by ourselves (For some odd reason I thought solicitors did this)
Anyway, I'm not quite sure what type of survey we will need and how to go about it. The house we are buying was built in the mid 60s. it seems like either a RICS HomeBuyer Report or Home Condition Survey but im not really sure what the difference is between these or which is better.
Any advice?

The home buyers report gives scores for things that need attention and was the survey we had on the house we bought. It seems to be the most popular choice of survey reading this board too because people ask for advice on the issues raised on their surveys.
I don't know about home condition reports, so I can't say if that would be better.0
