I am obviously delighted.
When the end came I realised how exhausting the whole process has been and I suddenly feel as though a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
Good luck to those starting, mid way or near completion of their debt free journey.

Congratulations:j:beer::dance:_party_. No wonder you're delighted, you've every right to be.
Please may I be nosy and ask how much debt you started with and how long it took to reach debt-freedom?
I'm one of those nearing the end of my journey and if my planned F&Fs are accepted over the next few months I might be debt free myself by New Year's Eve:j. I'm probably being over optimistic:eek: but it's giving me the motivation I need. My default mode is procrastination:o0 -
I started with 24,000 of debt. It has taken me 5 years. However if I had not been given seriously negligent debt advice at the beginning from the CAB and had been directed to Stepchange immediately, it would have been 12 months less!
I finally cleared the last £600 with successful PPI claim and F and Fs.
Good luck on clearing yours.SCP # 034

Hi I am grateful for any help.
I recently conferred my first F&F to barclays after 4 years on a DMP. I sent CCA requests to all other debts and so far two are unenforceable.
The one for F&F was for an overdraft which stands at £1500. I offered £150. They have written back saying no but are willing to negotiate if I up the offer or I can provide evidence that I cannot pay more.
What should I do now? Thanks0 -

Tell them the £150 is a gift from a relative and is only available if it settles the debt in full and your credit file will be marked as satisfied.
It's obvious you can't afford more if you have been on a DMP for 4 years but they need to check where the money is coming and at least attempt to try and get more.
Is the account still with Barclays or are you negotiating with a debt collection agency?DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
Completely unexpected CBC :j I haven't contacted this creditor since last summer and that was just an I&E update. Only paying £1 per month token payments. Large debt (well over £10k)
You are right, your creditors are cheeky monkeys, but look on the bright side that was another debt busted and gone :beer:carbootcrazy wrote: »Congratulations:beer:. I agree it's sometimes nice to receive post;). Was yours unsolicited or as a result of you asking for redress?
One of my creditors did the same with me although not for quite as much as you received. Cheeky monkeys used the lion's share of it towards my remaining debt balance:( and just sent me a cheque for a little of it. I think it was to do with them not being allowed to 'keep' the interest part of the refund. Have forgotten now what they said, must dig out their letter:o. Would have been nice to have received a cheque for the full amount to do what I like with (probably add to my F&F Fund) but I suppose it decreased my balance anyway and was money I didn't expect so I shouldn't grumble should I?. Mine is still with the original creditor too although someone else is managing the debt on their behalf these days. Would be lovely if the others review their practices in our favour too wouldn't it?:think:DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -

Hi the debt is still with barclays and I did advise them that it was a gift etc. Do I still write back?0 -

I would write back, confirm it is a gift from relative and advise that is all you are able to offer (or up it to £200 if you want to push it up a bit). Make it clear it is only available from the relative if it clears the debt in full.
They are clearing considering your offer or they would have just come back with a no or an alternative figure closer to the full amount of the debt.

First post on here ! You'll have to excuse the pretty boring screen name as was naive when i joined many moons ago !
Debts of around £23,000 ! Sat down in March and thought i'm going to have to sort this mess out . Opened a Virgin Basic Account. Was extremely easy and no hassle. Went into local Money Store with id etc on the Monday. Received phone call on Tuesday saying Account active gave me account details and said would be confirmed in writing within 5 days.
Got in Touch with SC and they promptly advised a DMP. First payment out May . However didn't know about this forum till after. No emergency fund but i can survive !
Halifax at first were the most awkward. £4 a day OD charges ! However after using a template letter on here they have refunded all charges and will default me in 4 weeks ! AND sent a cheque for £100 for distress caused ! And on a loan , which i never even mentioned in the letter, they say will default again within 4 weeks !
So, anyone like me , just starting on a DMP read this forum some very good advice on here . And opening a basic account is simple ( after all i did it ! ) . Just don't jump in at the deep end and start payments immediately like i did.0 -
Hi all,
Just starting my DMP journey. I've contacted SC to workout a budget. Opened a new account and sent creditors messages online.
I need to send letters to Lloyds and MBNA. Could anyone advise me of the correct addresses to send these please.
Thank you in advance
