So ive been so busy with work over the last couple of weeks.
Not managed to get many letters out etc.
Completed the stepchange paperwork, just waiting to send it back, just deciding when to start it, I am thinking 1st July.
Managed to send Nationwide a letter asking them if they will write off my two loans, I have already paid back more than what I originally borrowed, No idea what they will say, probably no. I have only missed one payment on both which were only due this week. I cant afford to make any more payments any way, so if they say no, will just write again to them in a few months. I just thought if I could start the dmp without these debts on I could pay more to the others.
Cancelled all other direct debits for non priority debts, changed bank accounts and got mortgage and council tax direct debits set up with this.
Next job is to write or ring! RBS , I have credit card debt of £12500 with these. :-( I had this from about 2004 so I am thinking cca and see what they say.0 -

I'd already sent them a simplified I&E when I wrote to them:(. Real nuisance as the creditors' forms were all slightly different and wanted the info in different formats:mad:. I think they all had a section asking for all other creditors, balances owed and payment amount to be listed though.
Thank you so much0 -

I also have a debt with Robinson Way who are lovely on the phone when I have had to call them but never respond to emails!! Will have to hope that they reply to the letter I send otherwise they will just get the payment I have offered!!
Hoping to get all letters sent out tomorrow. Should I just send 1st class or send via recorded delivery?
Good luck with the self managed journey and keep us updated with your progress
Any advice from the self managed pros on here very welcome too!!

Thanks BDFSH! I just sent regular post as overseas and I’m sure I read on here just proof of postage will suffice. I’m going to make the payment I offered to robway tomorrow even though they’ve not responded to letter or email yet. Sainsburys have no hope as I’ve no idea how to pay them
Best of luck to you too0 -
Hi,
I stumbled across this forum last night and have already found it so informative and useful! We are just arranging a DMP with SC. It is all extremely daunting and I feel an incredible about of shame about my situation!! Just wondered if anyone had any advice or tips about the process. I have seen people post about an emergency fund, how have people built this up? Or saved for F & F? How have people found SC? I definitely need to think about clever budgeting! I need to start planning to informing our credit card companies? Should I be thinking about CCA? Our mortgage fixed term ends in 2 years, I worry about this!!! Sorry for the ramblings and all the questions. Any advice is much appreciated0 -
It's a joke isn't it. I haven't heard form them since answering a call saying I'll go down harassment route and take the matter to the police. Haha
Think that shocked them to stop asking for the money.
Quick SC question. Seems I need to buy 4 new tyres for my car. Devastated. But I wouldn't be able to pay SC for one month. I've only literally just started and about to make my first payment. Can this be held? I could wait til next month and borrow off a family members but are SC OK with the missed payment if I contact them.0 -

Phone SC and explain they will be fine.
Don't borrow off family or anyone else. If you do this, you won't be able to pay either them or SC next month, and so the cycle will continue. You will start your DMP owing people outside of the DMP and will just struggle to keep on top of things. You will leave yourself short to try and pay people back.
Don't be embarrassed to delay the start of your DMP. It's your DMP, SC are there to support you, not chastise you because you've had an unexpected expense crop up.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
Advice please. My mobile phone has died, I've been to a phone shop & they tell me it's not worth repairing. I can upgrade with my current provider, but it will cost an extra £6.00 per month. Not a huge amount, but the credit will obviously show on my credit report. My DMP isn't set up yet, but in the process of being so. Would this look irresponsible to my creditors when they have a peak at my credit file? I'm not after a shiny latest model (far too ancient for that). Any views most welcome.

I'd get a cheap 2nd hand / reconditioned sim free phone from a high street phone shop. Then when your current contract runs out you could just go for a sim only contract.Debt March 2018 £27,596:eek: DMP Start June 2018 Debt Free Date 2023:T:T:T Debt July 2020 £14,700 Debt July 2021 £93000 -

I have had a good read and just wondered if anyone could help with my questions.
Do people recommend a token payment to credit cards the month before the DMP starts. Wondering if to delay DMP till June and make a token payment in May?
When our mortgage fixed rate ends in 2 years I presume we will have to start with our mortgage lender and go to flexi. How have people found this?
Can anyone recommend a thread to read etc on clever budgeting?
Thank you0
