I've opened my shiny new basic account! I think this is the calm before the storm as I'm in the 30 day no contact period. I'm actually feeling more positive than I have for a long time. It takes a long time to actually admit that debts are out of control ( well, it did with me), so although I am at the very beginning of my journey - oh that sounds so X factor-I think admitting there is a problem is almost relief in a way. I can't wait to start saving an EM fund, yikes, me saving
This forum and the advice of those going through a DMP, and the those kind people who are now debt free but still give their time, well it's invaluable. No doubt I will be a fixture here asking so many questions but know I won't be judged.0 -
Hi All
As I!!!8217;m considering returning to full time hours since Apr2017 (lots of health tests almost complete)
Thinking ahead I had made some considerable financial savings including reducing step change payment from 180 to 80 per month increasing finish to Dec 2022 -think it was Nov2019 before.
What do mser!!!8217;s think of me asking SC to increase payment to 180 or 200 (only if and when I return to full time)
Maybe I could work towards late 2019 again.
Dmp latest balance 4498 call it 4500.
Maybe I!!!8217;ll try some simple calculations.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -

Hi everyone
Just popped in to update on my 20 odd PPI enquiries that I put through the Resolver site. Everything single one has come back that I (nor DH) have ever had PPI
I am sad we didn't ever have it (because that means no refunds for me).... and over the moon I was savvy enough to make sure we weren't conned through the years :rotfl:
Happy days - onward with the debt busting ehDFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -

Hi EmergencyNurse,
It's weird, I had banked with my previous bank for so long it felt comfortable. Until I added up all the bank charges I'd been paying! I'm sure they won't think that, as I have been with them for so long, 'Ah such a loyal customer we'll drop interest right away & refund all charges'.
:rotfl: I think you'll like seeing your name on a new bank card!0 -
Has anyone else in response to a CCA request received a scanned copy of their original account card application form? It’s from a well known dept store that also sell really good food! From 1998 which is a shame
You must be careful as some credit card application forms actually doubled as a credit agreement, i’m assuming you are referring to M&S, so check what’s written in it very carefully.
If it says this is a credit agreement regulated by the consumer credit act, then it may be sufficient, but it must contain the terms and conditions as well.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Just because they have responded to your CCA request and sent you a copy of the original application form - even it contains T&Cs - do not assume that makes it enforceable.
MBNA did this to us and I thought, oh well just have to pay it. However I got it checked out on the All About Debt website and it was unenforceable. I settled £12k for £1.2k because it was unenforceable. I could have paid zero, but I wanted to close the door on the account and get it marked as partially settled on my credit reports.
As your account goes back to 1998 it's definitely worth getting it checked outDFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
Thanks guys. I will scan it through tomorrow to AAD and keep you posted. I also had a reserve account with them which I havent had a response about yet and still waiting on 2 others.0

Hi Emergency Nurse and anyone else just starting out on a DMP, my life was saved by the banking advisor that suggested I call Stepchange when I finally admitted I couldn't make a payment and I will be forever grateful for that advice.
We all do our DMPS with our own variations but the advice on this thread is invaluable, so subscribe to the thread and keep up to date but also use MSE to maximise the money you have.
I'm 5 years - can't believe I'm saying that - into my DMP, still several years to go before I'm debt free but I would never have been debt free without a DMP.
Thanks to everyone who gives input to the thread, sorry I'm not around more lately but it's fab that people are so active.
SazDebt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Lovely to see you back again, Sazzie:T
I know how RL and it's problems often gets in the way of doing things online and dropping in on this thread. Been there, done that myself recently:(
You mentioned people's input to the thread and I just want you to know, Sazzie, that your posts were such a help and encouragement to me in the early, trepidatious months on my DMP. I'm now 5 years in to mine but sadly I was very late to find this thread:o. I really wish I'd known about it before I took the plunge into a DMP. I'd still have done it, no doubt at all, but I wouldn't have been so scared about what it might mean to my life. As it turned out, and as all other posters will agree, it's the best financial decision I ever made:j.
Good luck to all the new DMPers who have joined us:beer:. Don't ever worry about asking questions, voicing your fears and worries. We've all been/maybe still are in the same boat. A problem shared is a problem halved as they say;)0
