I have just had a missed call from Link, should I ring them back? I think this is my first debt that may have been sold on, but I'm not sure which debt it is, I wrote to all my creditors in the past few weeks offering token payments in the hope of getting defaulted, now its real seems a bit scary :o google suggests they are a nasty firm to deal with?
Anyone have any ideas what companies sell to link? I tried logging into one account and its saying my account is inactive so I'm guessing itd be that one

Bit confused now, have a voicemail from that number and it suggests they are from one of my creditors, but google phone number lookup links it to link

    Awesome, congrats!
my debt level is similar to your starting level, when did you start on your plan?
    Must be an amazing feeling

Thanks, it's going to feel amazing I'm sure, every time the numbers go down it feels good but this will be something else! Fairly tempted to withdraw lots of money in £5 notes and roll around in it first month after dmp - but wouldn't want to get cut!

I started in May 2014 - so it's 3 and a bit years. I don't have kids and have paid the most I could afford throughout to try get it over and done with asap!

Don't be fussed about phone calls henrryyyy, if they've got something to say, they'll put it in writing.

If there after money, legally, they must write to you.

Could I make a somewhat strange request to the DMP denizens.

May you guys please go to the following thread and post your opinions. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5691515

As many people on self managed DMP especially have to deal with the DCA companies on a regular basis, I think you would be best to comment on how the prospect of a representative of their industry body would affect you and how you treated the MSE forums.

Also, to Henryyyy, it may well be that Link are literally informing you that they've taken over one of your debts. They can also inform you by writing, so nothing to really call back for unless if you really feel up to it.

In debt and looking for help? Look here for the MSE Debt Help Guide.
Also, If you need any free and impartial debt advice, the National Debtline, Stepchange, and the CAB can help.

Link have bought my 2 MBNA credit card debts if that's any help to you.

Link are a pain to deal with as they don't answer letters for weeks on end and then write saying ' 'thank you for your recent letter.....' and go on to say what their proposals are without me having a clue which of several letters I'd sent it is that they're replying to:eek:. They also phoned me when I'd specifically asked them not to but I think I've got that message across now and they haven't done it again.

I haven't offered any F&Fs to them yet as I can't afford to so can't comment on how easy they are to negotiate with:(

Also, from what I recall, all accounts become inactive and online access to them is stopped once the DMP kicks in. That's what happened to all of mine anyway. It's not necessarily the one that you couldn't access that Link have bought.

    Good Luck:beer:
  • Hello,

My partner and I had our DROs accented in the beginning of July. However, I now have a job which means we no longer qualify for a DRO.

We are now looking at a DMP, but are unsure if we should go through a company or DIY.

We have £140 left to make payments to creditors. However, this should improve in September 2018 as we would qualify for 30hours funding for nursery.

    Thank you for any advice.

    Hi everyone

I'm not doing very well with being on the forum lately. I am trying to keep up with you all. We've been away on holiday - yes....holidays are allowed whilst you are on a DMP :) We've been camping and have come home very, very wet and fed up.

DMP is ticking along. We received a letter whilst we were away that one of our debts has been sold to Cabot. We've never had any dealings with them before so it will be a new experience. Sold to DCA is good. Maybe in six months or so they will be open to a settlement offer - let's see ;) Hope they're ready for us ;)

Hope you are all well and pushing down those debt totals.

Hi everyone, I'm new here having found myself exploring a DMP after getting myself into considerable debt through online gambling. I have dealt with the gambling through counselling and have all the blocks in place but have the legacy of nearly £60K of debt to repay. I earn well but am struggling with keeping on top of the stress of dealing with 7 creditors and the imminent end of my promotional rates on a number of CC's that I did transfers on. I went though the Stepchange Remedy tool and it suggested a DMP and generated an application for me which I completed. However the proposed repayment that the DMP suggests had worked out to be higher than my contractual payments and they have now said I don't qualify for a DMP at the stage but to contact if anything changes. I was feeling such relief at the thought of having just 1 monthly payment to make and knowing that I might be debt free within 2 yrs 8 months as calculated....however now I feel I am drowning again and don't know where else to turn apart from debt consolidation loans...but suspect I will struggle to borrow that much with my current lending. Any suggestions?
