Hi there.
I'm sorry if this has already been asked, however I'm after a basic bank account as I've been in financial difficulties, and I was with Virgin Money which was great but had loads of drawbacks like having no app so you had to type all your info in, you had to go to a branch to set up a new payee and a few other negatives.
Looking at TSB Cash account is seems pretty similar in what it has to offer like no bounced direct debit fees and you can't go overdrawn, however what's everyone thoughts on this account who has it? Have you had any issues?
Also what time does your wages go in as with HSBC it was around midnight, Natwest was about 2:37am and Virgin Money was around 9:30pm/10pm the night before?
Many thanks

hello natwest/ rbs do a free select account+ overdraft control.
this account has no fees for bounced DDs and SOs, It also rejects regular payments that take you over 25.00 overdrawn.
if you already have an account with rbs/ natwest then you can phone their sales team and covert it to a select account with OD control.
hopefully this helpsLBM 01/12/2015 (roughly) | Debts at Highest £9128.00 | Current Debt £0.00!!!!!:j:money:

Analysing your post ....you have been with Virgin Money, HSBC, and Natwest and you are now looking at TSB. The commonality across all these accounts appears to be that you have been in financial difficulties. Changing bank accounts is not likely to solve your problems - it's more like putting lipstick on pig. It will look prettier for a little while but it will still be a pig.
You need to face the problems you are apparently having with money. An app, or when your wages go into your bank account, will not make any real difference to how you can live your life. Have you tried the Old Style Money Savings board, or the Debt Freee Wannabe one?0 -
I'm with Stepchange DMP so getting the help I need. But was looking at a basic bank account that doesn't have any charges, and while I've been with Virgin Money etc I just haven't liked the system with issues with complicated logins and expired sessions etc.
When I am talking about wages, I am asking when they typically enter your account as each bank is different "HSBC it was around midnight, Natwest was about 2:37am and Virgin Money was around 9:30pm/10pm the night before?"
So I was asking what time people find their wages typically hit their TSB Cash Account?0 -

Of course it matters, I suffer from terrible anxiety and I have a zero hour contract job, I don't get my wage slips until after I get paid so it's a scary making sure I have enough to cover my bills.
If the funds enter at 2:35 like NatWest did I wouldn't be able to sleep easy until I knew I was okay!0 -

Then your problem isn't with the bank, you need to see a doctor about your anxiety.
Nobody can tell you for certain what time your wages will be paid in, with any bank. We can tell you that it's usually at such and such a time, but banks won't guarantee to do the processing at the same time every day because technical issues might crop up sometimes which mean they have to change the processing time.0 -
Agreed. The solution is to give yourself at least a day's breathing room if things are really that tight so you can plug the gap.
(Not judging, I have had to run to the bank first thing in the morning in the past to correct myself going past my student overdraft limit...)0 -
God I give up with these forums! Rather than I get a simple reply to a simple question I have people analysing my health and my finaicnal situation.
What a bloody joke! (And I've been to the doctors and the therapy and it didn't work)0 -

There are various online calculators available to allow you to model tax/NI/other deductions or you could even just maintain a spreadsheet that correlates net pay against number of hours each period that should allow reasonably accurate prediction of what you'll get, if it's a source of worry.
Just seen your above post while typing this - don't take this one the wrong way, just trying to help....0
