Late Email from gmail

A friend is sending me emails from his phone using a gmail address to my gmail address and it is taking up to a day before I receive them on my computer using google's web page.


I can send myself emails using my Virgin email address to my gmail address and receive them almost instantaneously.


Is this his problem or my problem?

maybe his phone is not actually sending them at the time because he doesn't have a internet connection?

If so it will be sent later when he gets data or wifi, happens all the time

When he sends them it says sending email.

He was at my house when he sent a test email, I still don't have it.

It "could" be user error I suppose. He is less tech savvy than me and older.
