Understanding a will

Options
Hi. I have a uncle in hospital who is terminally ill and only has a few wks to live. He's always told me and my partner that everything is left to us and as asked us to sort his funeral etc.on emptying the house today we found his will (he told us to find all the paperwork and keep it safe) . On reading it , it actually reads to me that he's left everything to his mother . Can somebody please help with the following two paragraphs and put it in simple terms for me please (im not very clever) I'm now worried that I will now not be able to see to his life policy to pay for his funeral.

" if my mother ********** survives me for the period of one month I devise and bequeath all my estate of what so ever kind and what do ever situate to my said mother absolutely.
If my said mother predeceases or does not survive me for the period I for said I direct that clause two here shall not take effect and this my will be constructed and take effect as if the said clause two had been wholly omitted therefrom and that the following clauses of this my will shall have effect.
THEN
I" I devise and bequeath unto my trustees all my real and personal estate wheresoever and whatsoever (including any entailed property of which I have power to dispose by will) upon trust to convert into money all such parts thereof ad are not money and to divide the net proceeds of such conversion and all ready money (herein after together called my residuary estate) among such to my niece ***** and her husband ******.
Any help please. Thanks in advance.

So everything goes to the Mother provided she lives at least one month after he dies.. she will have a will of her own of course.

The funeral costs, and any other debts, get paid from the estate. His mother gets the remainder assuming she lives for a month beyond him.

It I should possible that this is a very old will, and that he has actually forgotten about leaving everything to his mother.

His will directly contradicts what he has told you, so you need to tell him as gently as you can about this, and if he really wants to leave everything to you he needs to make a new will pronto.
