Passport countersign problem!

I work long hours, gave it to 'A' to countersign (first passport) I thought it was all sorted, they posted it for me to help. 'A' has known me for 30 years, 'B' (their partner) has met me once. I have an interview next week, I told 'A' about it, and they came clean and said they didn't sign it, 'B' had done it!! :O I called the PO to ask about withdrawing it (I gave them a pants excuse as I was trying not to drop 'A' in it), but they have said I can't as it's already been processed. Is there a way out of this?

Many, many thanks! :(

How long ago, if it was over 2 years ago and they're a person of standing, then theirs no issue.

    Your countersignatory must:

have known the person applying (or the adult who signed the form if the passport is for a child under 16) for at least 2 years
be able to identify the person applying, eg they’re a friend, neighbour or colleague (not just someone who knows them professionally)
be ‘a person of good standing in their community’ or work in (or be retired from) a recognised profession
They can’t be closely-related to or involved with the person applying, eg:

    related by birth or marriage
be in a relationship with or live at the same address as the person applying

I haven't known them for at least 2 years (I've known 'A' a lot longer, which is why I asked them), they lied on the form. They are able to identify me, and they are in a recognised profession. I'm also not related to either 'A' or 'B' and they don't live here, the only issue is that they've lied about how long they've known me.

    Thank you for replying :)

I don't know. She works with B, but I don't think they have the right profession. B's also a bit of a !!!! so I don't know if they just railroaded A. A won't say.

the only issue is that they've lied about how long they've known me.
It is B's lie, not yours. But you have signed the declaration that everything is correct. If they call B to confirm, what will he say?

A/B posted the form after I gave it to them to countersign. The PO have already processed it, I've already received my interview letter.

I understood that. So you are all assuming that if B was going to be contacted for confirmation of his countersignature, it would already have happened?

I'd not worry about it - the whole point of all that is about fraud and baddies. If it's just one of those things that you didn't get the right person to sign then deal with it if it's ever picked up. Otherwise, forget it.

When I needed a passport I had nobody that knew me at all - and a landlord at a local pub, who'd recently bought the pub and didn't know me, signed mine .... all was OK.

You need to just forget it and plead ignorance/stupidity/cluelessness if it does get picked up on ... and then get it resolved.

If they do pick up on it/investigate they're just checking for baddies doing bad things ... not for clueless people who goofed.

I'm not sure how things work (it's my first passport), but I don't think they'd wait until the interview stage. I'm really uncomfortable with it :(
